Driver Manager

Job Summary:

 The Driver Manager will execute, direct, and coordinate shipments into and out of the warehouse in a safe, efficient, and customer-service centric manner. Responsible for ensuring delivery of quality customer service, accurate record keeping, and achievement of productivity goals and quality standards. 

Shift Availability:40+ hours per week, must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

•Oversees the daily workflow of the team; schedules and organizes staff to ensure effective staffing of all shifts.

•Leads hiring, coaching, and training of teammates

•Supervises and develops team leads

•Handles discipline and termination of teammates in accordance with company policy.

•Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive, providingrecommendations for promotion and salary adjustment as appropriate.

•Responsible for continued process improvement and development of SOP's.

Duties/Responsibilities:

•Oversees the coordination and routing of shipments.

•Directs dispatching and routing activities and tracks transportation vehicles.

•Ensures that customer difficulties or problems are investigated and resolved.

•Negotiates and secures contracts with transportation providers and customers.

•Directs all maintenance, repair, and replacement of shipping equipment or vehicles.

•Implements safety audits and trains staff members on safety issues.

•Maintains knowledge of best practices including the most efficient and cost-effective delivery methods.

•Maintains knowledge of regulations related to transportation including those related to hazardousshipments, employee safety, and freight classifications.

•In collaboration with other managers, develops and implements policies, procedures, goals, andobjectives for transportation operations.

•Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies.

•Reviews and analyzes expenditures and other financial information; uses results to develop andimplement plans, policies, and budgets.

•Collaborates with other department managers to set performance standards.

•Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure that goals and objectives are clearly communicated ; providesguidance and leadership to enable staff to meet these goals and objectives.

•Identifies training needs and opportunities; develops and implements a plan for meeting those needs.

•Maintains and develops positive relationships with existing and prospective stakeholders, demonstratingexcellent customer service and setting an example for other staff.

•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

•Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies.

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

•Ability to prioritize tasks, delegating when appropriate.

•Proficient with Google Workspace or related software.

•Ability to drive safely- a valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR (motor vehicle report)

Preferred Education and Experience:

•High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.

•At least three years of related experience required; one year of supervisory dispatch experience required.

•Food Manager certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

•Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

•Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

•Must be able to complete various activities in the warehouse that may require hours of lifting, standing,walking, reaching, and carrying.

•Exposure to variable temperatures such as cold present in a refrigerated environment.
